Charles Van Doren, call home

It's not exactly a rigging scandal. But it definitely appears to be a cheating scandal.

There have been constant rumors bubbling around online game show HQ about cheaters. People supposedly use bots to come up with correct answers in the few seconds allowed for each question. Last Sunday the show offered a 25 grand prize, and the cheaters seem to have been out in force. The game came down to the two users listed in the screenshot, and neither wound up winning.

HQ kicked out JericBrual for alleged bot use, and kaylaa14 goofed the final question. Though it seems that kaylaa14 may also have been cheating with bots (and with carbon-based life forms in an online chatroom).

Dan Enright couldn't be reached for comment, but somewhere he may be smiling. Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to bot. All right, it doesn't rhyme.

  1. As someone who was playing the game that night; I did find it very suspicious that a good number of users had gotten as far as they had.
