Unsolved mystery

Game Show Forum spotted an odd item on eBay: an apparently long lost Goodson-Todman pilot called Make Your Move.

The same name as the TPiR pricing game is purely coincidental. Matt Ottinger is running a crowdfunding effort at GSF to buy the film. There's lots of speculation in the Game Show Forum thread about the host, the players, the date, most everything else. The eBay page offers only a few tantalizingly fuzzy screenshots (like the one presented here) to feed the conjectures.

No surprise, but the GSF thread eventually runs off into a flame war. It looks like the posters have gotten the money together, though, so I guess Matt will bid on the film. He probably won't have much competition. No bids have come in since the film went on sale July 12.

A long lost G-T relic would be interesting, in any case. It looks like the film will be exclusively Game Show Forum property for at least a while. The flame war erupted when somebody hinted at putting the film on YouTube. The word "douchey" got a workout.

UPDATE: GSF won the auction for the film. (The competition was not intense.) We'll see if the show ever surfaces on YouTube or another site.

  2. Yet another bad week for Wheel. Wheel hit a season low. But it wasn't a good week for Steve or Alex either.

  3. I AGREE!! THANKS FOR THE INFO!! :D :D :D

Oh and Casey, I know we at ATGS trolled the heck out of your blog, but we're willing to call a truce if you want to help us bid on that kinescope. We would upload it on YouTube just to spite those jerks.

  4. You don't like Game Show Forum? That sounds like a segue!

We at Game Shows Official also do not like them, so you could advertise with us. It's only fair since we have your name all over our blog. gameshowsofficial.blogspot.com

  5. Yeah, a lot of them seemed rather rude. However, I can see why that one comment seemed douchey. If someone uploads it, then there's no point in contributing any money because you can get it for free.

Still, it'd be funny if someone outbid them at the last minute.

  6. I let through a comment from a previous troll because it didn't violate the rules. I did nuke one "drinking game" spam. Sorry, too much of that spam has already splattered on the blog.

As for the Game Show Forum flame war, it happens all the time on that board. Somebody will get somebody else irritated, and everybody is suddenly stamping their little feet.

Sure, putting the tape on YouTube would mean that everybody could get a look, not just the people who paid for the privilege. But that's no reason to yell at the guy who only hinted at the possibility.

By the way, I'm not going to bid on the tape. The show is an interesting find, if the description is true, but it's at most a failed pilot of minor importance. My guess is that it will surface on YouTube sooner or later, anyway, if it's really what the seller says it is.

    2. Well, I don't let you spam every entry with a "drinking game" comment. If that counts as a flame, then I plead guilty.

    3. By the way, if you and the other alt.tv.g-s trolls tried one-tenth of the nonsense on GSF that you've tried here, you'd get flamed to crispy ashes. Then you'd get thrown off the board.
