Ratings: lots of season lows for syndies

Syndie game shows have seen much better weeks. The top three all crashed to season lows for June 12-18. TV News Check blames breaking news stories for preempting a lot of time slots. For whatever reason, the news was grim in the household ratings...

Family Feud 5.9 - down five ticks to that season low
Wheel of Fortune 5.2 - down a couple ticks to its own low
Jeopardy 5.1 - right in line with the soulmate, down two ticks to a new low
Millionaire 1.5 - flat
Celebrity Name Game 1.1 - flat

100K Pyramid perked up to its best numbers of the new season on Sunday June 25. 5.2M viewers and a 1.1 18-49 rating. Should be enough to keep the show around.

GSN's second quarter wasn't great and it wasn't terrible. 368K/262K viewers prime time/total day. The network ranked 41st and 35th in the windows.

  1. I may be an "older is better" person in general, but I'd be lying to you, if I said that don't enjoy the current "Pyramid" with Michael Strahan. It does justice to this good old format very well. I also find "Beat Shazam" w/Jamie Foxx to be great, too.

    1. Well, ABC's Pyramid is a cell-by-cell clone of the old Dick Clark versions (with increased money amounts thanks to inflation, of course). So you should like it.

Anyway, it looks like the show will be around for a while. The numbers are pretty good by summertime broadcast standards nowadays. Pyramid won its time slot by a mile.

  2. And for "Pyramid", there was good reason to celebrate: A contestant named Jacob won a grand total of $150,000, and there was another $100K win that same episode. Too bad Jacob didn't beat Cheryl Reinwand's $150,800.

  3. He would have probably broken the winnings record had he won the trip in the Mystery 7. Cheryl won a trip to Fiji in 1986 as well as the $150,800. I suspect the Bahamas Cruise in the Mystery 7 was worth at least $800 more than the trip to Fiji in 1986.

  4. There was a John Davidson hosted $10,000 Pyramid in 1991! I remember it real well! There was a $100,000 Pyramid with John Davidson, but also a Davidson $10,000 Pyramid! I remember seeing it!

    2. Which makes him just as bad of a Nazi as the folks on the GSF. Taylor always speaks the truth.

  6. I'm not surprised the game shows took a hit due to reruns but I'm a bit disappointed for Jeopardy they should've did better ratings wise since they're the only one not in reruns

  8. As predicted I deleted another one of Michael Taylor's asinine spams demanding something or another. I realize that the idiocy is just as bad from SuperAWORio or hat putato or whatever he calls himself, but he does manage to dodge the no-nos on "Legalities and Technicalities."

    3. There WAS a $10,000 Pyramid hosted by John Davidson! I remember it well! It lasted maybe two weeks, if that.

    4. Yup. It was originally intended for USA Network, with all civilian contestants just like their (and GSN's) Chain Reaction. But they decided not to air it after 10 episodes were already taped. Then after the Davidson $100K version ended production, a handful of stations still wanted fresh content, so these episodes were dusted off. I remember seeing them!

  9. Nope. He only hosted a syndicated 100k Pyramid.

    1. Not nearly as wrong as you. You cannot prove that Davidson hosted anything other than one year of 100k Pyramid.
