noted that The Chase returned to GSN with new eps on November 6.
This is a little unusual in itself, because the oldies board to end all oldies boards usually treats GSN with contempt. The network runs shows that are less than three decades old, after all. Of course, various posters quickly started dumping on GSN's version of The Chase - one of the best game shows of this or any other era - because, well, it's less than three decades old. We don't like Brooke, we don't like the contestants, we don't like the questions, we don't like the theme shows, blah blah blah.
One of the sillier complaints - even by the lax standards of the board formerly known as Matt Ottinger's - was that Mark Labbett doesn't lose often enough on GSN. It's obvious that most of the posters on Game Show Forum don't watch the show, because Mark actually tends to lose pretty often on GSN's version. A brave poster pointed out the stats...
Mark's win rate in Britain: 77%
Mark's win rate in USA: 68%
Maybe you just don't like the Chase at all. It's fine if you don't. But Mark loses a lot more here than on the mothership (if you weeel).
That stopped at least one of the complaints dead in its tracks. One small triumph for common sense on the board. The stats are no surprise to anybody who's been paying attention. GSN's version naturally features more U.S.-related material, where Mark has somewhat less expertise than back at home.
As I noted before, The Chase returned with a huge audience by GSN standards, almost 700K viewers. Which once again shows how out of touch Game Show Forum is with most game show fans. But you knew that already.
