Can't please everybody

Not content with handing out only one WORST THING IN CREATION award, Game Show Garbage split the voting into two categories.

One vote picked the worst Internet game show of the year. Reflecting the fastidious opinions of GSG's readers, Buzzr's Password "won." Well, it got all of 193 votes. The GSG voting base is not exactly massive. I doubt that Fremantle is worried about the putdown. (Hey, I doubt that they know about it.) At last count, the fourteen eps of Buzzr's Password had garnered over 800,000 views, with like/dislike ratios on each video of 600 to 15 or thereabouts. Fremantle can probably live with 193 naysayers.

Host Steve Zaragoza may have rubbed the GSG faultfinders the wrong way. He does have Terry Crews syndrome and often shouts madly at the camera. Unlike Terry, though, he occasionally gets off a funny line. The rest of the show is fine.

The other vote for worst TV show was really weird. They voted for something that wasn't even a game show, CBS reality dog The Briefcase. Go figure.

  1. The Youtube crowd will basically watch anything that's obnoxious and has lots of immature off color humor. Watch some videos of the most subscribed people on YouTube and you'll see.

    1. Uh, no. Lots of YouTube videos don't get any views at all. Fremantle has been very successful with the Buzzr channel on the site. They've even gotten viewers to watch until the end of the videos, which is rare on YouTube.

  2. Casey, did you hear that the host of GSG, Robert Seidelman, is planning on having a sex-change?

He needs all the support he can get for this. He has mine.

    1. Okay, but I still disagree with the voting on these "awards."

    2. I don't see your support if you are using a politically incorrect term.

Also, after these awards are given out, it seems like Game Show Garbage will be taken to the landfill. Robert is discontinuing the inductions, maybe to focus on transition therapy.

  3. Lie Detectors should've won! It started at 5 days a week, then to 2x a week, then just on Wednesday nights and it was gone after just 20 shows.

  4. Surprising Buzzr Beat The Clock wasn't inducted.. the sexual nature of some of the stunts was a bit tasteless.

  5. I like Buzzr's Beat the Clock and I didn't think Lie Detectors was all that bad. And I didn't know about GSG going away. Has there been any kind of announcement?

    1. Yeah, Rob has been hinting at discontinuing the series for a few months. He has some other ideas In either case, I wish him the best in his transition.

    2. Well, I've been critical of Game Show Garbage and its unrelieved negativity. But I gotta admit I took some guilty pleasure from its trashing of really awful shows.

Trouble is, the site seemed to think that almost every show was really awful, when a lot of them were just mediocre or maybe even better than mediocre.
